TOUR GROUPS Aboriginal Cultural Workshops - Message Sticks
- Duration: 2 Hours (approx.)
- Location: Barcaldine, QLD
- Product code: TGWMS
Message sticks are a form of communication used for millennia by the Yiningai people. They are a visual text that use symbols, colours and other various markings and materials to convey information, be it instructional or narrative.
Here at the Desert Dreaming Centre's designated workshop space, you will be mentored by one of our Aboriginal Tribal Art Mentors about the various meanings behind each of the ochre colours used in Tribal Art and Ceremony.
Learn how certain colours may represent gender, Heaven and Hell, beliefs and other meanings. Discover how to read colour as you might words on a page. Come join us and learn a new language.
Applying this newly acquired knowledge behind the potential meanings of both colour and material, you will be supported in
creating your very own meaningful and purposeful Message Stick as a unique gift to either yourself or a loved one.
